The Sky: The Art of Final Fantasy Boxed Set celebrates nearly four decades of magnificent work by legendary designer and illustrator Yoshitaka Amano. This art book collector’s edition was released last month for $200 retail, but Final Fantasy fans can already save big on Amazon. The Sky: The Art of Final Fantasy retails for $130.30 on Amazon. This is the second edition of The Sky: The Art of Final Fantasy, which was originally released in the mid-2010s in limited quantities. This new set includes the original hardcover trio of books and focuses on Amman’s work in the first 10 core Final Fantasy books. It also comes with a new flipbook featuring two different Final Fantasy animations made by Amano and two souvenirs, a Final Fantasy print in silver ink on clear acetate and two large Final Fantasy postcards.
Finally, this collection comes with a paperback book, All About Yoshitaka Amano, which contains interviews with the artist, a bibliography, sketches for Sky Guides, and dozens of photographs of Amman in his studios in New York and Tokyo.
The entire set is packaged in a gorgeous cloth-bound box with a hinged lid and a silver ribbon inside to lift the contents inside. If you’re familiar with his work, you’ll know that the presentation perfectly matches his artistic sensibilities, as his Final Fantasy artwork combines elegant watercolor and pencil techniques with vibrant designs that helped set the art direction for each game.
