Japanese publisher Bandai Namco said that Armored Core 6 is a chance for the series to expand its audience.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Bandai Namco Europe CEO Arnaud Müller said that while the mech title isn’t expected to have the same results as Elden Ring, the game helped launch Armored Core 6 to a larger audience than before.
“It’s a big step forward for this franchise,” he said. “We won’t be able to match Elden Ring’s numbers, but we’ll far surpass what previous Armored Core games have done.”
He added: “We have a great game on our hands, the gameplay and combat system are very loyal to what FromSoftware fans are used to, so we really want to take this IP further with FromSoftware. I expect that people who have discovered [their] games through Elden Ring will enjoy Armored Core.”
Muller added that Elden Ring is a sign of the quality of what FromSoftware is capable of as a studio.
“This is an opportunity for us to really expand the audience of Armored Core games,” said Mueller.
“My ambitions are not the same as Elden Ring, but our ambitions are much bigger than the previous Armored Core games.”
He added: “Thanks to Elden Ring, FromSoftware has become a seal, a guarantee of quality, and that’s why people will see that this game’s Metacritic is excellent, [that] it is difficult but very useful [and say] “I want to try this game.”
Armored Core 6 launches today, Thursday, August 24th. This is the first entry in the franchise since 2013.
