Square Enix sales of the Octopath Traveler series were revealed to have surpassed 4 million copies sold.
Both entries in the mid-sized role-playing franchise just launched on Xbox Game Pass from 2023. Ocotopath Traveler II debuts on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. The original game also just released on PlayStation 4 and 5.
Thanks to this, almost the entire series is available on modern consoles, except for the mobile game Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent.
Eight track II sold 1 million copies in three and a half months, and the first game sold 3 million in just over four years. That milestone ends in June 2023, so it’s unclear how many have been sold since then.
Octopath on Xbox Game Pass until early 2026
interesting Square Enix also said that Octopath games will be available on Game Pass until January 2026. This is one of the few cases where the developer has explicitly stated the length of the game on the service.
To make the games even more attractive, a new update for Octopath Traveler II adds a new game mode where players can fight new, stronger enemies. The cast of the first Octopath is also included, which is a nice bit of series crossover.
