Earlier this year, former Netflix employee Ben Qualo (in the photo) announced the creation of a new publishing house. Now we know more about this venture, which has been dubbed Midwest Games.
Based in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the label is dedicated to empowering people in the Midwest. Joining Kvalo as a co-founder and head of the partnership is Chief Experience Officer Rob Martin III, who previously co-owned Xset. Midwest also hired Crunchyroll vet Jennifer Corbett, who is the company’s chief marketing officer, and Chris Klimecki, who previously worked at ProbablyMonsters and Harebrained Schemes, joined as chief project officer.
Meanwhile, Midwest Games’ advisory body includes Striking Distance and 2K alumnus Mark James and Meta CFO Liz Kuehn.
The publisher also backed TitletownTech, with whom Midwest shares an office.
“At the Midwest Games, our journey began with a strong commitment to empowering the vast talent pool that resides in underserved regions,” said Quallo.
“We recognized that innovation and creativity thrive outside of traditional tech hubs, which is why we decided to advocate for underrepresented regions, starting with the Midwest. Our mission is to provide resources for these talented developers. Working with TitletownTech aligns perfectly with our vision, as their philosophy of nurturing and inspiring the next wave of entrepreneurs resonates deeply with us. Together, we are poised to redefine the gaming industry by delivering stellar games and developing a thriving regional gaming ecosystem.”
TitletownTech partner Cardero Barkley added, “Our investment in Ben and Midwest Games is a testament to our shared belief that innovation knows no bounds. Together, we are on a journey to redefine entertainment by publishing stellar games and expanding the regional gaming ecosystem.”
