Lisbon now has a gaming hub for startup developers.
As reported by GamesBeat, the game center with the imaginative name The Gaming Hub will house several small studios in one building in the capital of Portugal. This venture was created in part by developer Fortis Games, which is a partner in the organization and has a floor in the building. The hub is spread over two floors with 13 private rooms and 12 coworking spaces.
The gaming center is supported by the Lisbon City Council, the Unicorn Factory Lisbon tech startup program.
“Today we start another phase in the Unicorn Factory Lisboa strategy,” said Lisbon Mayor Carlos Moedas (in the photo) said.
“We already have a project headquarters in Beato that brings together all the sectors and areas, and now we are creating new centers in the city, developing highly specialized innovation centers in areas where we know Lisbon can stand out internationally . This is further proof of the dynamism and strength of this project, which is so important for the city’s economy: Unicorn Factory Lisboa companies create 10,000 jobs in the city! I hope that many specialists, especially young people, will be able to find these new opportunities here.”
The CEO of Unicorn Factory Lisboa and Startup Lisboa Gil Azevedo added: “The Gaming Center is a physical location promoted by Unicorn Factory Lisboa and the Lisbon City Council that brings together innovative companies, universities, leading companies in the sector, investors and talents to contribute to the development of this ecosystem in the country, attract investment and create jobs. The partnership with Fortis Games, Maleo and APVP will contribute to the creation of a strong gaming community and the development of an important ecosystem in Portugal, which has more than 5,500 companies in Europe in 2021, representing 85,000 jobs.”
