In the meantime, we’re waiting for the big announcement of the new game, which will hopefully be out on the Amiga, Atari XL and C64 this weekend. The first game worth mentioning in Indie Retro News is Typhon’s new Amstrad CPC conversion of Transversion. The game, which the creator says, “is not only a port of the 1983 Solar-Fox/Gridrunner game originally for Speccy, but it uses the CPCTelera library and includes several graphical tweaks from Denis Grachov’s excellent versions.” To accompany the news, Xenomorph has released a video showing the game in action.
Here’s what the excellent mobygames site has to say about the game. “Transversion is a simple yet fast-paced puzzle game. The story puts the player in control of the Elimax spaceship. The player’s task is to find and destroy alien egg capsules on a galactic grid. This is achieved as their ship flies around the grid and over alien pods that leave the Raydan field to destroy them.’

“There is no shooting in this game, at least the player doesn’t shoot, the aliens patrolling the edges of the grid shoot a lot. All arrows go along the lines of the grid, so a player who either stays still or travels too long in a straight line and the player starts with five lives and scores points for each life destroyed. The game records the highest score for a game session and triggers “Congratulations” when a new record is set.
