We recently received word via Facebook that Matthew Smith’s all-time classic Manic Miner, originally released way back in 1983, has been re-released as Manic Miner: Deeper and Down 1.1 for the ZX Spectrum. A new version of the game that contains not only 20 levels from The Deeper Caverns, but also 20 more from Down, Down, Deeper and Down. With this news, we have some new information about the game as well as a short gameplay from Saberman YT.
And here’s the latest from the website. “He’s back… In an all-new old adventure! This follows from Lost Levels and Lost Levels DS in that it is a conversion from another system, in this case the Sam Coupé version. After the first 20 subsequent levels of the original Manic Miner, there were 20 more called The Deeper Caverns, then 20 more called Down, Down, Deeper, and Down. This gives the title of the game Manic Miner: Deeper and Down as Manic Miner: The Deeper Caverns and Down, Down, Deeper. and Down, as before, tries to make it as close as possible to the original game mechanics, but this time using the JSW64 128K game engine, as some features such as trampolines and switches could not be replicated in the original game engine. .
