We’ve already featured Galaga a few times on Indie Retro News, there’s been an Atari 2600 port, a great Amiga demo from Pink and Fade One, and then the latest C64 release from Arlasoft. Fast forward to today, though, and there’s another Galaga game that I think you’ll enjoy just as much, and that’s Galagish on the Atari XL/XE and 5200: Gimmee99’s upcoming arcade conversion, which some say already looks better than the C64 version with better color, very smooth (NTSC) and very convincing (arcade like) sound at the beginning of the game!
Galaga was developed and published by Namco Japan and Midway in North America in 1981 as a sequel to the 1979 game Galaxian. In the game, you can control a powerful spaceship that must destroy waves of enemy formations that want to destroy or capture you. As for this preview, rest assured that if you own an Atari XL/XE or Atari 5200, you’ll enjoy this upcoming conversion, even if it’s still a work in progress.
