I’m sure many of you remember Dune II, one of the greatest RTS games of our time, an all-time classic developed by one of the greatest developers, Westwood, released for the Amiga, MS-DOS and a later release for the Sega Megadrive in ’93. Well, if you remember it (the Amiga version to be exact), at some point Robert Kuhn, who was part of the original Dune 2 team at Westwood, will be releasing a new Amiga AGA and OCS remaster. A new version of the game that will no doubt be of interest to many in the Amiga community.
The COMPLETE intro sequence from the DOS version (sans audio, which is in development) has been ported to the AGA and runs smoothly from floppy to two disks.
Here’s the latest from the Amiga AGA/OCS Remastering Patreon page. “Dune II on the Amiga was a really popular game. Most gaming magazines have given it rave reviews, and it’s consistently featured in lists like “The Best Amiga Games Ever”. Despite all these accolades, the Amiga game wasn’t as good as it could have been, the game shipped on 5 discs and suffered from extensive disc swapping in the DOS version.
