Epic Games is the king of free stuff, from their monthly giveaways to today’s announcement, over 500 game engines ready for Unreal Engine 5.4. Back at GDC 2024 during State of Unreal, they announced that they would be releasing this animation library:
With 5.4, animation takes a big step forward. It includes Motion Matching, a simple and effective way to animate in-game characters that has been used in Fortnite on all platforms since the launch of Chapter 5. Later this year, we will also release a free sample tutorial project that includes over 500 AAA animations created from high-end motion capture data with the set of movement and traversal data used in the main demo. Plus, thanks to extensive battle testing in LEGO Fortnite development, you can now fully animate your game using the Control Rig and Sequencer without switching between apps.
