Capcom just finished its latest Dragon’s Dogma 2 Showcase, but it still made sure to show off powerful new enemies like Talos, a new trickster calling, and more exciting RPG gameplay.
It was a short presentation that was stolen almost immediately when Capcom started introducing fearsome enemies like Talos, a giant statue capable of destroying the environment. It turns out that players can take down Talos by climbing around his body and hitting his weak spots Shadow of the Colossus style.
IGN’s Twenty Questions – Guess!
Talos is proof that Dragon’s Dogma 2 brings gigantic scale to the series, but that’s not the only new thing. While the world may look similar to the original adventure, producer Yoshiaki Hirobayashi says the sequel’s story takes place in a “parallel world.” As rebels, players will find themselves between the struggle of two kingdoms: Vermund and Batal.
Meanwhile, Dragon’s Dogma 2 director Hideaki Itsuno introduced us to one of the many quests we’ll be facing. This special tour features the player character working with and befriending elven siblings.
This section of the showcase was used to show the elven settlement known as the Sacred Arbor. Here, the Rebels may encounter NPCs who speak their own language, which requires translation to understand. If a player has a pawn nearby that understands Elvish, he will be able to translate it automatically.
“These specializations that pawns can acquire will make each of them more unique,” Itsuno said, “and hopefully make traveling more enjoyable.”
The Dragon’s Dogma 2 release date has been announced
Other new features highlighted in the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Showcase include a first look at a more robust character creator and the new Trickster vocation. The latter allows players to combat misty illusions by providing pawn buffs. Itsuno says this fighting style was created for those who prefer to fight from the side.
