Debbie’s Diner Derby see you trying to deliver food to the right customers. The problem is that you’re riding roller skates that are a little hard to stop or steer.
The game answers my burning questions about those restaurants where waiters ride on roller skates. What matters, of course, is how you manage to get the food to people without spilling it while you’re rollerblading. The answer, naturally, is that you don’t (most of the time). Mixing roller derby with a sit-down restaurant is an awesome idea and you’ll be rolling all over the place trying to get your customers the food they need without hitting a wall, slipping on trash, or knocking over a customer.
Any hit will make you drop what you’re holding, so you need to be careful. Granted, the game doesn’t REALLY require you to play carefully. You are rewarded for fast deliveries, so you need to move as fast as possible while somehow managing your dangerous momentum and driving difficulties. Also, you don’t just know what people want. You have to go to the table, get the order, deliver it to the kitchen, and THEN bring the food. This leads to a lot of chaos as you struggle to deliver food to your customers with cute animals, and a fair amount of laughter as you struggle to do your job while moving too fast.
Debbie’s Diner Derby is a silly, fun game that adds a bit of chaos and disorder to the running of the restaurant. I’m not really interested in playing games that let me pretend I’m at work, but by adding a bit of clutter and speed bumps, the developers have convinced me to take on this digital gig.
Debbie’s Diner Derby is now available on itch.io.
