Dead by Daylight creator Behavior Interactive revealed it is cutting 95 jobs, 70 of which will be at its Montreal studio. Those layoffs came months after the cuts mid January.
The developer explained that the reduction was caused by an increase in staff over the past five years. Daylight a current workforce of 60 million players has seen the Behavior team grow from 575 to 1,300 employees.
Citing the “complex context” of the current industry, Behavior chose to focus on its “historical strengths.” For the studio, that means “leadership in horror and service, and exploring the possibilities of location-based entertainment.”
It also plans “a number of strategic changes,” such as improving differentiation between different divisions such as business development and manufacturing.
“While the changes in our structure and strategic vision have led to difficult decisions, we are confident that these decisions will ensure our continued success,” said co-founder Remy Racine.
“As we embark on Behaviour’s next phase of growth, our commitment to the excellence of our products and workplace culture remains unwavering.”
The layoffs at Behaviour come just a day after the layoffs at Just Cause creator Avalanche Studio. Along with the layoff of 50 employees, the Swedish developer closed its two additional offices in New York and Montreal.
